Cambria is currently looking for a certified Medical Lab Technologist (MLT) to support instructional delivery of our Medical Laboratory Assistant Diploma (MLA) program at our Victoria location. This program is accredited by the BC Society of Laboratory Science (BCSLS) and is delivered, twice a week, 9:00am to 1:00pm in-person, starting June 29th. The MLT instructor would have two days of teaching per week with the remaining days shared with the Medical Lab Assistant instructor.
Responsibilities and Expectations:
The MLT instructor will be required to contribute to the academic success of students and the program by:
- Delivering instruction that meets the course competencies and program objectives as set out in the BCSLS approved program curriculum
- Evaluate student performance in a timely manner
- Work in collaboration with the program leader and Sr. MLT instructor to support the continuous development and improvement of the program.
Education and Experience:
- Degree or diploma from a recognized university or College in a relevant discipline.
- Two or more years' experience in a related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A credential in adult education will be an asset
Skills and Abilities:
- Relevant industry skills and knowledge relating to the area of instruction.
- Ability to confidently provide instruction in the following areas: Ethics & Legislation, Laboratory Procedures & Safety, Laboratory Mathematics, Infection Prevention & Asepsis, Laboratory Microbiology, Histology and Cytology, Hematology, Urinalysis & Specimen Collection.*
- Advanced oral and written communication skills, including presentation and group facilitation.
- Ability to motivate and inspire students.
- Ability to work in a team environment contributing to the program’s success
- Ability to work one on one with students that need individualized attention.
*Curriculum resources and tools will be provided, but successful candidate will be expected to confidently provide instruction on these topics.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $32.00-$35.00 per hour
