About the Client:
We're seeking a compassionate caregiver for a woman living independently in a large home in Prince Edward County near Belleville. She's experiencing cognitive decline with memory challenges and occasional confusion. While she's mobile and handles personal care independently, she's had recent falls and feels unsteady on her feet. She becomes easily overwhelmed managing daily tasks and has experienced panic attacks from the stress. She lives alone with tenants in other parts of the house and would benefit from consistent companionship and support.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve lunch, then prep a simple dinner before leaving
- Provide medication reminders and ensure medications are taken as prescribed
- Assist with light housekeeping, cleaning, and laundry to maintain a tidy environment
- Offer memory prompts and gentle redirection as needed
- Encourage and accompany on short walks around the property for physical activity
- Provide companionship to reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation
- Occasional transportation for errands or appointments
- Monitor safety and help prevent falls
What We're Looking For:
- Female caregiver who is soft-spoken, kind, and not pushy
- Patient and calm demeanor with experience supporting clients with memory changes
- Strong English communication skills with clear speech
- Reliable and consistent with excellent initiative
- Experience with cognitive support, meal preparation, and medication management
- Comfortable encouraging physical activity and providing companionship
- Valid driver's license for occasional transportation needs
Schedule:
Looking for 2-3 visits per week on a consistent recurring schedule. Preferred timing is afternoon visits starting around noon to 1pm for 2-3 hours per visit (approximately 6 hours weekly total). The ideal schedule would be the same days each week to establish routine and familiarity. Flexibility on specific days, but consistency is essential. Looking to start within the next week.
