HECO Limited has been serving the commercial and industrial refrigeration industry since 1980. As a growing UA Local 787 contractor serving Hamilton, Niagara, Burlington, and the GTA, we specialize in refrigeration systems for food processing plants, cold storage facilities, grocery stores, ice rinks, industrial facilities, and commercial HVAC applications.
We are currently seeking both Registered Refrigeration Apprentices (2nd–5th Year) and Licensed 313A Refrigeration Mechanics to join our growing team.
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial and industrial refrigeration and HVAC systems
- Service compressors, evaporators, condensers, controls, piping systems, and related equipment
- Diagnose refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, and control-related issues
- Perform equipment startups, testing, commissioning, and preventative maintenance
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and control drawings
- Complete service documentation and communicate professionally with customers and team members
- Participate in after-hours emergency service rotation as required
QualificationsApprentices
- Registered 2nd to 5th Year Refrigeration Apprentice
- ORAC Ready to Hire candidate or UA Local 787 member
Journeymen
- Licensed 313A Refrigeration Mechanic
- UA Local 787 member or willingness to join
All Applicants
- Valid Ontario Driver's License with a clean driving record
- ODP Certification
- Strong troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude
- Commercial refrigeration and HVAC experience preferred
- Controls experience considered an asset
- Previous ammonia and/or CO₂ refrigeration experience considered an asset
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment

Expected Hours: 35–60 per week
Pay: Based on UA Local 787 wage schedule and experience
Pay: $25.55-$65.06 per hour
