The General Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of RelyOn Canada, with a strong focus on continuous improvement, health and safety, financial performance, and operational excellence.
This role requires a hands-on leader who can improve processes, develop people, manage performance, and ensure the business operates safely, efficiently, and profitably.
Major Duties
Operational Leadership
- Lead daily operations across the organization.
- Ensure services are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
- Improve productivity, quality, customer service, and overall business performance.
- Establish clear accountability, priorities, and performance expectations.
- Identify and remove operational bottlenecks.
Continuous Improvement
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement across all departments.
- Identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve processes, and increase efficiency.
- Lead practical improvement initiatives that enhance safety, service delivery, and profitability.
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators.
- Use data, root cause analysis, and employee feedback to improve decision-making.
Health, Safety & Quality
- Champion a strong health and safety culture.
- Ensure compliance with company standards, legislation, and customer requirements.
- Support incident investigations, corrective actions, audits, and inspections.
- Promote proactive hazard identification and prevention.
- Ensure safety is integrated into daily operations and decision-making.
Financial Performance
- Manage operational performance against budgets and financial targets.
- Understand and monitor revenue, margins, labour utilization, costs, and profitability.
- Work with Finance on budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting.
- Make business decisions with strong financial awareness.
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability without compromising safety or service quality.
People Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop managers, supervisors, and operational teams.
- Build a culture of accountability, teamwork, and performance.
- Support succession planning, employee engagement, and talent development.
- Communicate clearly and consistently across the organization.
Customer & Stakeholder Management
- Maintain strong relationships with customers, partners, and regulatory bodies.
- Ensure a high level of customer service and responsiveness.
- Support business growth by ensuring operational readiness and execution.
- Represent RelyOn Canada professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
Essential Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in operations or general management.
- Strong background in health and safety leadership.
- Demonstrated experience driving continuous improvement.
- Financially literate, with experience managing budgets, costs, margins, and business performance.
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Experience in training, industrial services, marine, energy, emergency response, manufacturing, or a related sector is considered an asset.
- Post-secondary education in business, operations, safety, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Lean, Six Sigma, Project Management, or Health & Safety certifications are considered assets.
