Harrison Industrial Contracting is currently seeking motivated, safety‑driven individuals to join our growing Civil Team in Kamloops, BC and Chilliwack, BC. This job posting covers two (2) long-term career positions in two (2) locations:
- Hydro-vac Operator
- Swamper
As a key member of our Civil Team, the individuals will support a variety of customer projects, performing daylighting and excavation activities related to construction and utility operations. Work is primarily local, with occasional out‑of‑town assignments as required.
Qualifications - Hydro-vac Operator
- Valid Class 1 Driver’s Licence (minimum two years’ experience preferred)
- Clean commercial driver’s abstract
- Valid TDG (preferred)
- Resides in or near the Kamloops or Chilliwack area
- Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices
- Experience in construction, industrial, or labourer roles (preferred)
- Strong customer service skills
- Reliable work ethic and positive attitude
- Physically fit and capable of performing labour‑intensive tasks
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong communication skills
- Collaborative team player
- Willingness to exit the unit and assist labourers as needed
- Availability for overtime, after‑hours work, on‑call shifts, weekends, and travel when required
- First Aid Certification considered an asset
Qualifications - Swamper
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence
- Clean driver’s abstract
- Resides in or near the Kamloops or Chilliwack area
- Physically capable of performing demanding labour tasks
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Ability to follow direction and work safely
- Experience in construction or industrial labour (preferred)
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Team‑focused attitude with strong communication skills
- Availability for overtime, after‑hours work, weekends, on‑call shifts, and travel
Key Responsibilities – Hydro‑Vac Operator
- Conduct pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of equipment
- Perform minor maintenance and daily servicing
- Follow all company and customer safety policies
- Drive, position, and operate hydro‑vac equipment
- Operate safely in all weather conditions
- Chain up equipment when required
- Complete daily paperwork accurately and on time
- Work collaboratively with customers, coworkers, and supervisors
Key Responsibilities – Swamper
- Assist Hydro‑Vac Operators with safe and efficient job execution
- Set up and break down work areas
- Handle hoses, tools, and equipment
- Perform general labour tasks as required
- Support safe excavation and daylighting activities
- Maintain cleanliness of work sites and equipment
- Communicate effectively with operators and supervisors
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions

Compensation
Hydro‑Vac Operator: $29.05 – $39.73 per hour, depending on experience
Swamper: $25.16 – 36.15 per hour, depending on experience
Union provided benefits and pension after three (3) months of joining.
