Media Technician, ITD, Audio-Visual Services
(This position is initially open to full time, bargaining unit employees of the college)
The Media Technician provides front line (Tier 1) media equipment, services and support to respond to the presentation technology and educational technology needs of the Centennial College community – primarily to faculty, staff and administration. Reporting to the Manager, Audio-Visual Services, the incumbent maintains and ensures the functionality of media equipment in the academic computer labs, lecture theatres, and classrooms. The Media Technician tests and provides minor repairs of audio visual equipment, updates databases and maintains an inventory of Audio-Visual equipment, spare parts.
Provide front line (Tier 1) media equipment, services and support to respond to the presentation technology and educational technology needs of the College
Maintain and ensure the functionality of media equipment in the academic computer labs, lecture theatres, and classrooms.and specialized labs
Test and provide minor repair of audio visual equipment, update databases and maintain an inventory of Audio-Visual equipment, spare parts.
Provide statistics of audio-visual equipment usage
Receive Audio-Visual equipment booking requests, and schedule available equipment to meet client needs
Educate and demonstrate to clients correct usage of AV equipment
Provide AV and IT assistance and/or backup services and support for special projects
Maintain security of AV equipment
Perform other duties and projects as assigned
2 year college diploma in a media or computer related field of study or an equivalent combination or relevant education and practical experience, AVIXA Certified Technology Specialist (CTS), AVIXA Essentials of AV Technology, AVIXA Event Setup for AV Techs Online
Minimum of 3 years of experience with troubleshooting problems with malfunctioning A/V equipment and rectifying minor faults on-site, assisting clients to identify their A/V requirements and choose appropriate equipment solutions, instructing clients on how to use Audio-Visual equipment
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong customer service and conflict resolution experience
Experience with handling multiple priorities
Demonstrated commitment to on-going personal development and upgrading of technical skills through business activities, professional development and/or technical courses is expected.
