Overview
The Post Anesthesia Care Nurse is responsible for providing direct patient care in the recovery room immediately following surgical procedures. This casual, on-site role in Point Edward, ON includes monitoring patients’ vital signs, assessing pain and level of consciousness, and responding promptly to changes in clinical status. The nurse administers medications as ordered, manages post-anesthesia side effects, and ensures safe transitions from the operating room to recovery and onward discharge or transfer. Day-to-day tasks include collaborating with surgeons and anesthesiologists, documenting assessments and interventions, educating patients and families about post-operative care, and adhering to evidence-based protocols and infection prevention standards.
Duties
- Monitor patients' vital signs and overall condition during the recovery period.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Dressing changes for surgical wounds
- Provide patient education regarding post-operative care and recovery processes.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
- Assess patient needs and respond promptly to any changes in condition or emergencies.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and supportive environment for patients during their recovery.
Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the province of practice. ( Ontario)
- Current up to date BLS and ACLS
- Proficient understanding of medical terminology related to nursing and patient care.
- Previous experience in a recovery room, surgical unit, or day surgery
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment while also being self-motivated.
- Commitment to providing compassionate care and ensuring the comfort of patients during their recovery.

Pay: $39.63-$50.00 per hour
