Volunteer Position Overview
The Welcome Home is seeking caring, enthusiastic volunteers to support our Children's Ministry. If you have a heart for sharing the Catholic faith, enjoy working with children and youth, and want to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people, we invite you to join our ministry team.
Our catechism program meets every second Saturday and provides Catholic religious education for children and youth ages 3–15. Through Scripture, prayer, crafts, interactive activities, and shared meals, participants learn about the life and teachings of Jesus while growing in faith and building friendships in a welcoming community.
Volunteers also have the opportunity to assist with our monthly Teen Girls' Program, where young women gather for prayer, cooking, games, creative activities, and fellowship in a safe and supportive environment. These evenings help foster faith, confidence, healthy relationships, and a strong sense of belonging.
Qualifications
We welcome volunteers who:
- Have a desire to share and live the Catholic faith.
- Enjoy working with children and youth of diverse ages and backgrounds.
- Demonstrate compassion, patience, respect, and good communication skills.
- Are dependable, responsible, and able to work collaboratively.
- Support the mission and values of The Welcome Home and the Ukrainian Catholic Redemptorists.
- Previous experience in children's ministry, catechesis, education, childcare, or youth programs is an asset. Mentorship and ongoing support will be provided.
Time Commitment
- Catechism Program: Every second Saturday (approximately 3–4 hours)
- Teen Girls' Program: One Friday evening each month (optional)
- Volunteers are welcome to serve in one or both programs.
