The Early Childhood Education Department of the Faculty of Child, Family and Community Studies at Douglas College is seeking to expand our pool of contract faculty. Contracts for specific course will be awarded as need arises beginning in January 2020. The primary place of work will be Coquitlam Campus.

Workload is assigned each semester based on available sections.

The Role

You will instruct students in the Department of Early Childhood Education. The Department offers a two-year diploma program that prepares students for basic ECE certification as well as certification as a Special Needs Educator. Students may also complete a post-diploma citation in Infant-Toddler Care.

Responsibilities

You will instruct students, facilitate learning and evaluate student progress in the Early Childhood Education Diploma program. You will plan, organize and manage learning activities and resources, provide academic advice to learners and maintain high quality, learner-centred instruction.

To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need

The successful candidate(s) will have a Masters degree (Doctorate preferred) in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field.

You will be proficient in teaching applied knowledge and skills to post-secondary students. You will have excellent communication skills and a willingness to work collaboratively in a team setting.

Preferred candidates will have experience caring for and/or working with young children in a childcare, preschool or kindergarten setting.

Preferred candidates will have specific expertise in the areas of ECE Curriculum, ECE Methods, ECE Practicum Supervision, and/or Online Course Delivery.
