We are currently seeking a part-time Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) Trainer to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a safety professional who enjoys working with a variety of clients, solving complex workplace challenges, and making a meaningful impact on workplace safety.
As an OH&S Trainer, you will:
- Deliver occupational health and safety training programs to clients throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. Programs include, but are not limited to:
- - WorkplaceNL’s Fall Protection, Confined Space, Powerline Hazards, Traffic Control Persons, MSI, OH&S Committee Level 1 and 2, and Supervisor Health and Safety
- - First Aid (St. John's Ambulance)
- - Other programs non-regulated: H2S Alive, lockout tagout, mobile elevated work platform, forklift, crane (overhead or pedestal), rigging and slinging, etc.
- Facilitate classroom, practical, and site-based training sessions.
- Evaluate participant understanding through written and practical assessments.
- Ensure training programs meet applicable legislative, industry, and accreditation requirements.
- Maintain accurate training records, reports, and documentation.
- Assist with course development and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide exceptional customer service and build positive relationships with clients.
- Travel to client locations throughout the province and Atlantic Canada as required.
- Support consulting projects and other safety-related initiatives when needed.
Qualifications & Experience
- Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field
- Several years of experience working in occupational health and safety
- Strong knowledge of provincial and/or federal OH&S legislation
- Experience supporting or managing safety programs in industry
- Experience with PRIME and/or COR certification compliance is considered an asset
- Excellent communication, training, and client relationship skills
- Strong problem-solving and organizational abilities
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple client projects
- Ability to complete travel assignments, and work flexible hours (evenings and weekends are a possibility)
