Position Overview
The Customer Experience Specialist / Front Desk Associate is the first point of contact for families at Bright Haven. This role combines front desk operations, customer service, light programming support, cleaning responsibilities, and general facility care.
The ideal candidate is friendly, reliable, energetic, organized, and genuinely enjoys working with children and families.
Key Responsibilities Customer Service;
- Warmly greet families, children, and guests upon arrival
- Check in clients for drop-ins, classes, parties, and appointments
- Answer phones, emails, and in-person questions in a friendly and professional manner
- Process payments, memberships, passes, and bookings using POS and scheduling software
- Communicate policies, schedules, and programming clearly and kindly
- Maintain a welcoming, calm, and organized front desk environment
Facility Support & Cleaning
- Perform daily cleaning duties, including:
- Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming
- Wiping down high-touch surfaces
- Sanitizing toys, equipment, and common areas
- Complete deep cleaning tasks as scheduled, including:
- Carpet cleaning
- Equipment cleaning
- Washrooms and storage areas
- Assist with opening and closing duties
- Maintain cleanliness standards in line with health and safety policies
Programming & Play Support
- Assist with arts, crafts, sensory activities, and play stations when needed
- Help reset activity stations between sessions
- Support birthday parties, events, and group programming as assigned
- Encourage positive, safe, and inclusive play
- Model respectful and engaging interactions with children of all abilities
Team & Operational Support
- Communicate clearly with management and teammates
- Follow Bright Haven policies, procedures, and SOPs
- Assist with restocking supplies and reporting inventory needs
- Support special events, workshops, and community programming
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Friendly, approachable, and customer-focused
- Comfortable and confident working around children and families
- Basic computer skills (POS systems, email, scheduling software)
- Creative mindset — enjoys arts, crafts, and hands-on activities
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to multitask in a busy environment
- Reliable, punctual, and professional
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable standing, walking, bending, and moving throughout shifts
- Able to assist with physical setup, cleanup, and equipment movement
- Comfortable working in a sensory-rich environment (music, movement, children at play)
Previous Experience (Asset)
- Experience working with children or in childcare, education, recreation, or customer service
- Experience with sensory play, arts & crafts, or group activities
- First Aid / CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Code of Conduct with Vulnerable Sector Check
