OVERVIEW:
The Maintenance Person is responsible for keeping all equipment in good repair with minimal downtime by providing day-to-day maintenance of all hotel facilities. The Maintenance Person is required to complete work orders from all departments in a timely and efficient manner to the highest level of standards outlined by the Lord Nelson Hotel & Suites. The maintenance department continuously works to support the improvement of engineering services to guests, coworkers, and other departments.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Respond and attend to guest room repair requests.
- Understand and operate advance electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and boiler systems.
- Communicate with employees and guests alike to determine the nature of their maintenance request.
- Utilize the Property Management System (PMS) to identify new work orders and update completed work orders.
- Ability to interpret readings from meters, gauges, and other measuring units used on equipment present on site.
- Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments.
- Ability to work under high pressure situations and exercise good judgement.
- Strong attention to detail, speed, and accuracy when completing assigned tasks.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of hotel guests and pertinent hotel information.
- Ability to ensure security of guest room access and hotel property.
- Perform basic maintenance activities such as unclogging drains, repairing various forms of hardware and electrical equipment including lamps, HVAC and AC ducts.
- Program televisions and perform general housekeeping and engineering-related inventory duties.
- Test, troubleshoot, clean, and perform basic repairs to tools, hardware, and basic machinery.
- Operate as independent mechanic by analyzing problems, identifying appropriate courses of action, and implementing solutions with available resources.
- Read and understand blueprints, schematic drawings, and technical part breakdowns.
- Display appropriate two-way radio etiquette at all times.
- Maintain confidentiality of hotel guests and pertinent hotel information
- Monitor fire alarm and safety systems as necessary
- Must have comprehensive understanding of hotel emergency procedures.
- Other tasks as assigned.'
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Professional attitude with the ability to follow instruction.
- Ability to work independently, under pressure and tight deadlines.
- Physical mobility and stamina required.
- Detail oriented.
- Valid Work Visa.
- Must speak, understand, and write fluently in English. Bilingualism is an asset.
- Experience working in a fast-paced hotel setting is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must have two years of experience in a general maintenance role.
- Basic painting, drywall, electrical, and plumbing skills are required.
- HVAC, carpentry, or mechanical experience an asset.
