Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead Prep Cook/Day Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will oversee food preparation processes, ensure high standards of food safety and quality, and assist in coordinating kitchen operations. This role is vital in delivering exceptional dining experiences by maintaining efficient meal preparation and supporting the kitchen staff. A strong background in food handling, cooking, and restaurant experience is essential for success in this position.
Duties
- Prepare ingredients and assemble dishes according to established recipes and standards
- Oversee daily food preparation activities, ensuring timely delivery of meals
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen workspace in compliance with food safety regulations
- Assist in training and supervising prep staff to ensure consistency and quality
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate supply needs to management
- Ensure all food handling procedures adhere to safety standards to prevent cross-contamination or spoilage
- Support the head chef in menu planning and meal presentation
- Uphold excellent food service practices, including serving dishes efficiently and courteously when needed
- Implement proper food safety protocols during meal preparation and storage
- Purchasing; From our contracted suppliers, proper stock procedures
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, and food handling within a restaurant or food service environment
- Strong knowledge of the food industry standards for safety, sanitation, and quality control
- Excellent skills in meal preparation, with attention to detail in presentation and taste
- Ability to lead a team effectively, demonstrating leadership qualities and good communication skills
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment operation and maintenance
- Knowledge of serving techniques and customer service principles
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety
- Experience with food safety regulations and best practices in a commercial kitchen setting
