About the job
Want real advancement and steady OT?
Coachable and ready to show up when the snow hits?
Join Terrace Group as a Snowfighter Driver (Class 3, Air). You’ll execute the plan under dispatch, keep commercial sites open during storms, and get paid to grow. Run tandem dumps and salter/sander units in winter (with hauling in the shoulder seasons), keep your unit mission-ready, and document clean, accurate work. We invest in you with paid training, certifications, a clear ladder, and raises tied to performance—not just time served. If you like tight crews, clean gear, and visible results every shift, you’ll fit right in.
Role (execution-first)
Run Class 3 tandem dumps and salter/sander units during winter events (hauling in shoulder seasons). Follow dispatch, work with site leads, and keep your unit mission-ready—every pass clean, every load secure, every log accurate.
What you’ll do
- Execute assigned routes per dispatch in Class 3 dump + salter/sander units
- Do thorough vehicle inspections before and after each shift; report defects promptly to keep uptime high
- Haul snow to approved facilities: manage scale tickets, secure loads, and dump safely
- Apply de-icer to specification (salt/brine) with accurate material tracking
- Communicate live with dispatch and loaders; escalate issues early (blocked access, refreeze, hazards)
- Keep tight timesheets, trip logs, and photo documentation
- Between storms: staging, fueling, light yard duties, equipment moves
What success looks like
- On-time service that meets the contract standards and service windows
- Zero preventable incidents; strong safety habits every shift
- Accurate vehicle inspection records, timesheets, photos, and material logs
- Positive client feedback; strong internal quality scores
You bring
- Class 3 with Air Brake Endorsement (Class 1 welcome)
- Recent tandem dump experience (winter operations an asset)
- Comfortable with overnights, early mornings, weekends, on-call
- Strong situational awareness; clear radio/app communication
- OK with cold weather plus occasional manual work
- Nice to have: spreader controllers, loader ticket, WHMIS/harassment (we train)
Storm schedule reality
Storm weeks are high-intensity by design. Expect 12-hour availability windows (e.g., 6:00 PM–6:00 AM or 2:00 AM–2:00 PM) plus staging, fueling, and post-event cleanup.
