Lead the development and implementation of a quality and safety focused based business culture. This includes enhancing or introducing new quality, team, performance, employee relations and OH&S management approaches and standards
Based on an evaluation of existing resources and market trends, identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats within the market area and develop a business plan that strategically positions the business in a favorable position
Improve margins through the right combination of product, services, strategic placement and cost reduction initiatives. Drive for continuous business performance improvement
Ensure optimal utilization of assets, including but not limited to equipment, plants and aggregate sites
Oversee staff and functions ensuring implementation of Miller and industry best practices designed to provide the best quality product to our customers
Address customer needs by developing and implementing timely business solutions
Represent Miller within the respective market in industry and community organizations
Oversee all activities related to estimating, planning, scheduling, equipment and labour requirements and material determination including ensuring accurate bids for all submitted tenders
Oversee operations of the project team and maintain relationships with sub-trades and clients
Responsible for subcontract negotiations, liaison with owners, engineers, and sub-trades, management of technical and financial aspects of contracts
Communicate company initiatives and pursues best practices and develop a high performance team with the goal to deliver positive margins

Requirements:
Creative but pragmatic entrepreneurial approach, with record of accomplishment and experience of 10+ years in leading business growth and change in infrastructure construction and maintenance
A civil engineering degree or diploma. Professional designation like P.Eng or CET will be considered an asset
Results orientation, a strong work ethic and a team focused “hands on” leadership approach
Experience and ability to understand operations from plans through to front line issues and be available and connected to senior management and staff
Proven experience working with both union and non union employee groups
Ability to build strong respectful relationships and communicate effectively and persuasively with different stakeholders
Comprehensive knowledge of budgeting, financial management practices and accounting principles
An ability to prioritize work and manage multiple complex priorities with a sense of urgency
Valid Class G Driver’s license and flexibility to meet the significant travel requirements of the role (up to 50%)
