A policy analyst at FedDev Ontario undertakes a wide variety of activities ranging from developing cabinet documents to researching leading policy and economic aspects of the southern Ontario economy.
The Agency’s policy analysts work closely with colleagues across the Agency and help to shape and support program delivery and design, as well as grow stakeholder relations and work with other regional and federal partners.

Intent of the process
A pool may be established as a result of this process and may be used to fill similar positions with various tenures (Acting, Assignment, Deployment, Indeterminate, Secondment, Specified Period), language requirements and security profiles within the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario at all locations.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with an acceptable specialization in economics, sociology, or statistics.
Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Significant* experience analyzing economic policy, business development policy or innovation policy
- Significant is defined as a depth and breadth of experience normally associated with a minimum of 2 years of full-time performance in these duties.
Experience in preparing briefing materials, correspondence, and other documentation (e.g. presentations/decks, white papers, reports.) required to support decision-making.
Experience collaborating or maintaining relationships with other government departments or with external stakeholders (e.g. other levels of government, academia, think tanks, private sector organizations) to coordinate or set directions on policy or program priorities.

A master’s degree or PhD from a recognized post-secondary institution.
Experience in developing Memoranda to Cabinet or Treasury Board Submissions.
Experience in supporting the development or delivery of programs
Experience in data analysis
Experience in developing infographics using software such as, but not limited to, Adobe, Powerpoint, etc.
Willingness and ability to work overtime often on short notice.
Willingness and ability to travel on short notice.
