SeptemberEngineering Technologist
ASI Engineering is seeking an Engineering Technologist - with a start date of September 1, 2026 - to support asset management, infrastructure assessment, and engineering consulting projects. This role will involve a mix of office-based technical work and field-based data collection, with up to 50% of the work expected to take place in the field.
The Engineering Technologist will assist with building and infrastructure condition assessments, asset inventory development, site inspections, data collection, report preparation, cost estimating, and technical documentation. The role is well suited for someone who is detail-oriented, comfortable working on active sites, and able to translate field observations into clear, accurate technical information.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field inspections and condition assessments for buildings, facilities, civil infrastructure, and related assets.
- Collect and document asset information, including quantities, materials, condition, deficiencies, photos, measurements, and location data.
- Support the preparation of building condition assessments, asset management plans, lifecycle costing, capital plans, and technical reports.
- Assist with organizing and reviewing field data, drawings, photos, inspection notes, and asset inventories.
- Use digital tools, forms, mapping/GIS platforms, spreadsheets, and asset management software to capture and manage data.
- Prepare clear summaries of field observations, deficiencies, recommended repairs, and replacement needs.
- Support cost estimating and lifecycle planning using internal data, industry references, and project-specific assumptions.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, clients, contractors, and other team members.
- Follow site safety requirements and company procedures while working in the field.
- Travel to project sites as required.
Field Work Requirements
This position requires regular field work, which may account for up to 50% of the role depending on project demands. Field work may include walking sites, accessing mechanical/electrical rooms, roofs, exterior areas, parks, roads, utility areas, and other infrastructure environments. The successful candidate must be comfortable working outdoors, travelling to client sites, taking measurements, recording observations, and using mobile data collection tools.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Architectural Technology, Building Systems Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
- Eligible for registration, or currently registered, as a Technologist or Technician with the applicable provincial association is considered an asset.
- Experience with building condition assessments, infrastructure inspections, asset management, construction, maintenance, or consulting is considered an asset.
- Strong written communication skills and the ability to prepare clear technical notes and report content.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and digital data collection tools.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in both office and field environments.
- Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel to project sites as required.

Role Type
Full-time position with a combination of office and field work. Field work may represent up to 50% of the role depending on project schedules and client needs.
Pay: $55,300.00-$89,500.00 per year
