Job Summary
Since 2001, IRT Integrated Rectifier Technologies Inc. has manufactured made-to-order electrical power supplies utilized in the Cathodic Protection industry internationally. We are a small team-oriented company of approximately 45 staff currently and pride ourselves on providing innovative solutions and quality products to protect industry assets and the world environment. We are located in northwest Edmonton and are seeking a performance driven person with strong attention to detail to join our team.
The successful candidate, reporting to the Product and Technology Leader, will design, develop, and support sales of cathodic protection rectifiers and other products manufactured or supplied by IRT. This will include the creation, review and revision of specifications, manuals, mechanical layout drawings, electrical schematics and other technical information. In addition, may provide support and/or sales assistance to existing and potential customers, to the best of IRT’s knowledge to help address their challenges.
Key Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
· Create Production documentation packages as per the applicable Sales Order, which may include:
o Create a product bill of material, CAD electrical schematic, CAD panel layout, CAD parts, wire list and any other documentation that is required by the Production (or Materials) group.
o Designing new transformers / inductors (choke) as required.
o Creation of a product data sheet.
- Research and sourcing of new Material
- Provide proactive support to existing and potential customers for IRT and related products (including other manufacturer’s products), applications and services.
- Assist the Engineering Sales group with customer requests that require the modification/re-design of existing products to meet customer specific requirements Unload materials delivered to IRT.
- Assist in other areas/departments as required.
Education and Work Experience:
1. Candidate will possess a two (2) year degree/diploma, issued by an accredited institution in Canada, in the area of Electrical or Electronic Engineering Technology (with a focus on Power Electronics preferred).
2. A minimum requirement of two (2) years of experience working with direct experience with designing custom manufactured electrical power supply products or equivalent similar experience.
Qualifications:
1. Knowledge of, and prior experience with, power electronics (rectifier) systems, single and three-phase electrical systems (typically up to 600VAC) and custom electrical/mechanical product design and manufacturing.
2. Proficiency with both understanding and creating mechanical drawings (strong mechanical aptitude) and electrical schematics (with printed circuit board design experience).
3. Proficient in the use of common electrical testing equipment such as power supplies, power meters, resistive loads, Fluke DVMs, solder/desolder tools, data loggers, etc.
4. Advanced proficiency in the use of standard office equipment (i.e. computer, printer, photocopier, etc.), MS office 365 including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, CAD software (Draftsight, AutoCAD, etc.) and other office productivity and product development related programs/tools.
5. Advanced keyboarding skills with minimum “accurate” typing speed of 40 WPM.
6. Prior experience with an ISO 9001 Quality Management System and the Understanding of lean principals, application of lean tools, 5S methodology, etc is considered an asset.
Work Conditions/Environment:
- Permanent, full time, hourly position
- Working hours of 7:30 am to 4:00 pm (Monday to Friday) (40-hour work week with some overtime as required to meet customer needs)
- Office, Manufacturing and Warehouse environment
- Must have CSA approved steel toe safety footwear
- Preferably own vehicle for transportation, however public transportation is available nearby.
