Our client, is an automation and electrical equipment provider for numerous industries. They provide equipment for automation, motion and control, robotics and infrastructure. They are actively looking to hire Sr. Mechanical Technician’s (Switchgear) to join their growing team.
The Technician is responsible for assembling and installing mechanical components for electrical switchgear and related equipment. The successful candidate will read engineering drawings, use a variety of hand and power tools, and ensure assemblies are completed accurately and to quality standards.
Please Note: this role is located in Milton, ON. Monday - Friday from 6:30AM - 3:30PM. This role is a contract to permanent opportunity. $32-40/hour depending on level of experience.
Responsibilities
- Assemble and install mechanical components of electrical switchgear and related equipment according to engineering drawings, work instructions, and specifications.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, assembly diagrams, and bills of materials (BOMs).
- Perform mechanical assembly using hand tools, power tools, torque tools, and other assembly equipment.
- Install components such as enclosures, bus supports, brackets, panels, doors, hardware, and other switchgear components.
- Measure, align, drill, fasten, and torque components to specified requirements.
- Verify completed assemblies for accuracy, fit, alignment, workmanship, and overall quality.
- Follow established assembly procedures, safety requirements, and quality standards.
- Identify and report damaged, missing, or incorrect components and assembly issues.
- Complete required production, inspection, and quality documentation.
- Work closely with other assemblers, electricians, quality personnel, and production staff to meet daily production targets.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in mechanical assembly, industrial assembly, electrical equipment manufacturing, or a related manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, assembly drawings, and work instructions.
- Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, measuring tools, and other assembly equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to understand how components fit and function together.
- Experience working with sheet metal, enclosures, hardware, brackets, and other mechanical components is an asset.
- Ability to accurately measure, align, fasten, and torque components according to specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a production environment.
- Ability to lift and handle materials and components as required.
- Previous experience assembling switchgear, electrical panels, control cabinets, or other electrical equipment is an asset.
- Previous experience working in a high-volume or engineered-to-order manufacturing environment is an asset.
