The Courtyard Oshawa is a fully redesigned hotel connected to the TownePlace Suites Oshawa and the Harmony Event Centre located just north of Highway 401. The Bistro is a place for Courtyard Guests to Eat. Drink. Connect. It is open for Breakfast and Dinner.
The successful candidate will be guest focused with an eye for detail, while working toward Sunray Group's goal in providing consistently outstanding value to our guests and setting a standard for service in our industry.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- To execute the preparation, cooking, presentation of the food based on the Executive Chef’s and Marriott Standards. Cleanliness, safety and hygiene are met daily.
REPORTS TO:
- Executive Chef and Service Manager
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Is responsible for the Food Preparation, Cooking and Cleaning Procedures for the section assigned.
- Is responsible for all food storerooms including fridges and freezers.
- Takes part in food storage (quality and quantity controls) when required.
- Maintains the high standard presentation of food and buffets, together with the Executive Chef and is responsible for planning, directing, controlling, cooking and co-ordination.
- Participates in all kitchen activities to the agreed standards and to the complete satisfaction of the guests.
- Is responsible for the preparation and cooking of food to the highest standards to ascertain an efficient food service.
- Assures that all food items are prepared and served according to established standards and practices.
- Is anxious to minimize spoilages and utilize food surpluses.
- Forwards suggestions for improvements in raw material, menus, cost savings and equipment.
- Makes sure that all buffets and bistro dishes are well presented up to standards.
- Assures that all food requests are executed to the fullest satisfaction of the guests in accordance with the Company's policies.
- Is aware of all fire, safety and emergency procedures.
- Performs other duties if required since above stated describe only a regular working day.
- • Is prepared to work overtime if requested.
- The appearance of the Bistro and Banquet cook reflects the reputation and image of the Hotel. A great deal of emphasis is placed on a professional appearance
- Always maintain the highest standard of personal appearance and hygiene.
- Clean and full uniform is to be worn, hat, jacket, name tag, pants and proper shoes. • Have a clean neat personal appearance.
- Hair must be well groomed, neat and not extend over the shirt collar and always be kept clean. Wear a hairnet under the hat to make it tidy.
- Jewelry is not permitted to be worn in the kitchen except for wedding bands.
- Smoking is not permitted while on duty.
- Is responsible for the proper cleaning and sanitary matters in the kitchen, storages, fridges, freezers, etc.
- Handling all working material and equipment with the necessary care and keeps it well cleaned.
- Should be familiar with proper sanitation procedures and follow the Public Health requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS ARE INCLUDED BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
- Must have 2 years experience in a casual dining restaurant or banquet kitchen.
- Able to multitask efficiently
- Willingness to learn and take on various kitchen responsibilities
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Physical stamina to handle task that require lifting and standing for extended periods.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $21.23-$25.00 per hour
