What you’ll do
Liaise with Charge Nurse and Clinical Nurse Leader in the Birthing and Surgical Services Programs to determine priority room clean-up and set-up when there is a conflict. Assign staff as needed.
Provide work direction to designated staff by performing duties, such as delegating and/or coordinating work, reviewing workload assignments, outlining expectations, ensuring completion of assigned work, and resolving day-to-day issues, following up with Program Coordinator or Program Manager as required.
Orientate new staff members in the Birthing and Surgical Services Programs and assist with ongoing education of current staff members, including communicating and training on new processes and equipment.
Identify learning needs and provide feedback and support to staff as required to ensure standardization of procedures.
Liaise with the Program Coordinator regarding the departmental needs, such as shortages of supplies.
Ensure all PSAs are getting their breaks & is aware of staff whereabouts at all times in case an emergency arises.
Follow-up with operational shift issues to be sure cleaning & supply standards are maintained, i.e. shortages of linen, supplies, terminal cleaning.
What you bring
Completion of Grade 12.
Two (2) years recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
You have the ability to:
Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Deal with others effectively.
Physically carry out the duties of the position.
Operate related equipment.
