Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced GMAW (MIG) Welder to join our manufacturing team specializing in high-volume structural and tubular steel fabrication.
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing precision welding on repetitive production runs, ensuring consistent quality, efficiency, and adherence to engineering specifications in a fast-paced production environment.
This role requires a strong background in production welding, structural fabrication, and fixture-based assembly work, with the ability to work independently and maintain high output standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform GMAW (MIG) welding in a high-volume production environment
- Execute multi-pass welding on structural steel components
- Fabricate and weld structural assemblies including tubes, beams, angles, and plates
- Perform accurate tack welding within jigs and fixtures
- Support repetitive production runs (500+ unit quantities) while maintaining consistency and quality
- Set up, operate, and troubleshoot welding equipment including wire feed, gas systems, machine settings, and cables
- Interpret and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, and fabrication specifications
- Use measuring instruments to ensure dimensional accuracy and compliance with tolerances
- Weld in multiple positions including flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead
- Clean, prepare, and maintain weld joints and workpieces prior to fabrication
- Maintain productivity targets while ensuring adherence to quality standards
- Perform additional duties as required to support production operations
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of experience in a high-production welding environment
- Minimum 10 years of structural steel welding experience
- Strong background in production welding and fixture-based fabrication
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong understanding of welding processes, tolerances, and fabrication standards
- Experience working in fast-paced manufacturing or production settings
Certification Requirements
- Valid **Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) certification in:
- GMAW (MIG Welding is required)
- and/or FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welding)
Schedule
- Full-time, permanent position
- Day shift schedule
- Monday to Friday
