McMurray Métis Local 1935 exists to pursue the advancement of the Métis people of Fort McMurray and Northeastern Alberta.
We are looking for an Events Coordinator in Fort McMurray, Alberta, to successfully coordinate the logistics and organization of events. This full-time role reports to the Programs and Events Manager.
The responsibilities include coordinating with vendors, sponsors and staff the events' logistics, tracking expenses, and evaluating success afterward.
Candidates should have knowledge of vendor management, excellent communication skills, and attention to detail. The successful applicant must have experience organizing and planning projects, multitasking and working in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and execute events, including Métis Fest, the Infinity Golf Tournament, the Christmas Celebrations, and Membership Meetings.
- Supports with the development of budgets and monitors expenses to ensure events stay within scope and budget.
- Work with all departments to enhance the event experience for Members and Community following the organization’s mission and including cultural and educational opportunities.
- Work collaboratively with community partners, vendors, exhibitors, sponsors, and various stakeholders during the event's planning and delivery.
· Organize and inventory supplies and equipment.
· Track participation, contractors, vendors, sponsors and report as required.
· Coordinate and organize volunteer opportunities.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications and Experience
- A diploma or certificate in Event Management, Hospitality Administration, or a related field is an asset.
- Proficiency in Excel and event management software.
- At least four years of experience organizing events or programs.
- Vendor management and customer relations experience

PHYSICAL & DOCUMENTS REQUIRED
- Flexible schedule, including early mornings, late nights, and weekend work.
- This position may include lifting supplies and equipment up to 50 lbs.
- A valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- A Vulnerable Criminal Sector Check
