JOB SUMMARY
The Tsuut’ina Nation organizes its programs into portfolios to address common needs and citizen groups. The Social Development portfolio includes programs such as Contingency, Child & Family Services, Early Intervention, Food Bank, Income Support, Off Reserve Residency, and the Office of the Band Designate.
The Social Development Executive Director (ED) is responsible for coordinating between the Minor Chiefs and program managers within this portfolio. Their role involves effective communication, resource utilization, and teamwork to ensure optimal operation of these programs. The ED keeps Minor Chiefs informed, networks within the broader Nation structure, and shall provide expertise to Head Chief and Minor Chiefs and Senior Managers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Strategic Coordination: Collaborate with the CEO and managers to direct and implement strategic plans. Ensure that legislation, policies and procedures and regulations are being developed and followed through the legislative process.
- Program and Service Delivery Oversight and Support: Assist in delivering programs and services, resolving issues, and implementing solutions. Works with Minor Chief portfolio holders, Governance department and managers to ensure that legislation, policies and procedures and regulations are being adhered to and developed to reflect needs.
- Financial Oversight: Monitor and oversee program budgets and ensure adherence to financial guidelines.
- Communication and Engagement: Communicate with rights-holders, engage with Nation Citizens, and keep the Head Chief & Minor Chiefs informed. Network with businesses, contractors, related agencies and all levels of government.
- Evaluation and Performance: Monitor, evaluate the program and manager performance, manage risks, and ensure compliance with legislation.
- Administrative Duties: Handle employee matters, record maintenance, reporting and funding proposals.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
o Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field.
o Legislative Knowledge.
o Senior Management experience,
o Program and Financial Management.
o Strategic Planning: Ability to develop and implement organizational strategies.
o Communication: Strong verbal and written skills for liaising with stakeholders.
o Networking: Proven ability to build and maintain relationships.
o Problem-Solving: Effective in resolving complex issues.
o Cultural Sensitivity: Deep understanding of and respect for Indigenous culture and traditions.
o Team Leadership: Experience in leading and developing teams.
o Risk Management: Skills in identifying and managing risks.
