We currently have a Temporary Full-time (until approx. October 2022) opportunity for a Physiotherapy Assistant position in our Rehab Services, Veteran’s Centre department at our Bayview Campus.

Weekdays: Days; 8 hrs; As per schedule
Summary of Duties
The Physiotherapy Assistant supports Physiotherapists in providing interventions to enhance mobility among Veterans Centre residents. Receives assignments from Physiotherapists. Ensures a safe secure environment for residents in the Physiotherapy gyms. Maintains accurate workload measurement data and documents via electronic documentation according to the model of care in the Veterans Centre.
Perform a variety of appropriate therapeutic activities as directed by the supervising PT. Therapeutic activities may include, but are not limited to; strengthening, range of motion, gait training, balance training, application of modalities (i.e. ice, heat, ultrasound, IFC), exercise classes, etc.
Provide a safe, secure environment for residents of the Veterans Centre. Ensure that the gyms and equipment are safe, clean and tidy.
Maintain regular communication with the PT regarding any changes or concerns about a resident’s program or their health status. As well as on-going communication with the interprofessional team.
Maintain workload measurement data and therapy minutes and documentation in appropriate timeframes according to the standards of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.
May be involved with the education of OTA/PTA students as appropriate.
Participates on appropriate committees pertaining to the operation of the unit and participates in discipline-specific activities within Sunnybrook.
Manage physiotherapy related inventory and supplies
OTA /PTA diploma from a recognized OTA/PTA program
Previous experience working with a geriatric population is preferred
Interest in working therapeutically in Long Term care required
Ability to function in an interprofessional setting
Well- developed skills in time management, problem solving, and communication required
Demonstrated commitment to Person-Centred Care
