Contract H&S Advisor:
On behalf of our Oil & Gas client, Procom is searching for a Contract H&S Advisor for a 12 month role. This position is an onsite position at our client’s Lloydminster office.
Contract H&S Advisor - Job Description:
The Contract H&S Advisor will provide subject matter expertise and drive consistent application of policy, standards, and procedures at the field level. The role involves advancing the H&S strategy and providing expertise and direction to the business, while building and maintaining strong team-focused relationships.
Contract H&S Advisor - Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support to execution teams regarding the interpretation of applicable OHS Legislation, Industry standards & practices, and worker training requirements.
- Speak with authority and coach on programs, processes, and standards.
- Assist in the implementation of the strategy and direction, aligning goals with organizational priorities.
- Participate in the review of project-specific safety documents and contractor performance meetings.
- Ensure H&S planning aligns with the business strategy and growth plans.
- Coach, influence, motivate, and empower others with regards to H&S ownership.
- Communicate relevant and timely H&S information to stakeholders.
- Steward safe performance of the Operational Integrity Management System (COIMS) and related H&S requirements.
- Assist in building and sustaining an H&S capability platform tailored to business needs for field operations.
- Collaborate within the organization to share best practices, lessons learned, and improve knowledge management.
- Stay abreast of emerging H&S issues and legislation, ensuring compliance.
Contract H&S Advisor - Mandatory Skills:
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in the Oil and Gas industry, ideally in Major Projects functions.
- OH&S Education such as NCSO, CRSP, or CRST.
- Strong Health & Safety management system technical knowledge.
- Ability to make decisions under tight timelines and multiple pressures.
- Prepared to gain detailed knowledge of all H&S standards, policies, and procedures.
- Problem-solving skills and effective communication.
Contract H&S Advisor – Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience in coaching and influencing teams.
- Ability to collaborate and share best practices.
- Knowledge of the Operational Integrity Management System (COIMS).
- Familiarity with emerging H&S issues and legislation.
- Teamwork-oriented mindset.
Contract H&S Advisor – Assignment Length:
This is a contingent position with a contract length of 2,088 hours.
