We are currently recruiting for an Afternoon shift Machine Shop Supervisor to join our team!
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and provide leadership to all employees involved in Machining in order to effectively meet company goals and objectives
- Manage resources within his/her area of responsibility to ensure staffing and equipment levels match business activity levels
- Assign jobs according to priorities in order to maintain scheduled completion dates, utilizing the most appropriate machines and employees for efficient production
- Coach and motivate employees in the performance of their jobs and look for new ways to continually improve operations, through focused efforts and initiatives
- Work with the machine shop lead hands and process technicians to drive continuous improvement
- Orients, trains and instructs all employees in the safe and efficient performance of their duties
- Promotes, maintains, and enforces a safe and healthy work environment for all employees in accordance with legislative requirements and Company standards
- Coordination of maintenance efforts to ensure the safe and efficient operation of equipment
- Provide employees with an annual performance evaluation as well as effective corrective counseling if necessary
- Manage throughput effectively using outsource machining as required to ensure customer deliveries are met
- Comply with company policies and procedures
- Perform additional responsibilities as required and appointed by management
Experience/Skills/Education:
- College diploma or technical experience
- Must be a certified Machinist with a minimum of 5 years of proven experience as a department head, supervisor or lead hand as well as being able to work any shift.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing methodologies and their application would be an asset.
- Experience with milling, large engine lathes, and saws necessary and CNC experience considered an asset
- Technical machining background in a manufacturing environment
