Reporting within the Redevelopment portfolio, the Project Manager leads healthcare capital projects from concept to completion. This includes defining project scope with stakeholders, developing budgets and schedules, coordinating Ministry approvals, managing consultants and contractors, and overseeing project implementation through occupancy and close-out.
Working in an active clinical environment, you'll collaborate with clinical leaders, facilities teams, consultants, contractors, Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC), Occupational Health, and external agencies to ensure projects are delivered safely and successfully.
- Lead planning activities for multiple redevelopment and capital projects simultaneously.
- Coordinate internal and external stakeholders throughout project development.
- Prepare and support Ministry of Health and Ontario Health capital submissions.
- Develop, update, and monitor project budgets, schedules, and planning documents.
- Ensure project scope aligns with KHSC's redevelopment and master planning objectives.
- Participate in consultant selection and tendering processes.
- Monitor project progress, design compliance, and project deliverables.
- Coordinate construction activities within active healthcare settings.
- Facilitate regular meetings with stakeholders, consultants, and contractors.
- Track milestones and provide project status updates and reporting.
- Prepare and coordinate required submissions and documentation.
- Navigate capital planning requirements in accordance with Ministry of Health policies and guidelines.
- Support projects through various approval stages.
- Define project scope and obtain stakeholder agreement and approvals.
- Develop project budgets and business cases.
- Create and maintain project schedules and planning tools.
- Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Coordinate final inspections and stakeholder sign-offs.
- Ensure close-out documentation is completed and transferred appropriately.
- Facilitate lessons-learned reviews to support continuous improvement.
- University degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3–5 years of progressive experience managing healthcare capital, construction, or redevelopment projects.
- Demonstrated experience with project scope development, budgeting, scheduling, stakeholder engagement, and project delivery.
- Experience working within complex, occupied healthcare or institutional environments.
- Strong understanding of healthcare planning, construction, and redevelopment processes.
- Knowledge of the Ontario Ministry of Health Capital Planning process and associated submissions.
- Familiarity with CSA healthcare standards and their application to healthcare facility design.
- Strong understanding of the Ontario Building Code (OBC), accessibility requirements, life safety considerations, and IPAC principles.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
