Gabriola Island is one of the most beautiful and unique places to live and work in all of Canada. The Surf Lodge and Pub is a beautiful rustic boutique resort right on the ocean overlooking the Georgia Straight. It has history and character. The lodge hosts weddings, fundraisers, musical and theater events. The Pub is a rustic, pleasant, sit back and watch the sunset or favorite sports team kind of place. Unlike other seasonal resorts in beautiful British Columbia our team has worked hard and successfully at being open all year round seven days a week. We pride ourselves on positive relationships and job security.
Our Head Chef is one of the hardest working, humble and nicest guys and he needs a hand. Our team is in need of somebody who can take the reins when he needs time off, bring creativity and passion to our kitchen and menu. We are looking for someone who is a team player, who works hard and likes to have a little bit of fun. We need somebody whose skill set elevates the other members of our kitchen. We need somebody to assist in the development of our menu's, fresh sheets and daily specials. We need somebody who can run the line in pressure situations when our chef is not here.
A successful candidate for this position will have some formal culinary training and certification. They will have a minimum 2 years on line cooking experience. Prior management experience is preferable, but we are willing to give the right person a shot if they do not have any yet.
Salary starts @ $38,000 a year. Negotiable based on qualifications.
