About the Role:
The Service Project Manager is responsible for planning and overseeing quoted service plumbing jobs from initial scope through completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard of quality. This role combines technical plumbing expertise with project management, client relations, and team leadership to drive the success of the service department.
Responsibilities:
- Work diligently to achieving the group sales target for the year.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within existing accounts, including upselling and cross-selling additional service and maintenance offerings.
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with customers, suppliers, and engineers.
- Build and maintain a pipeline of prospective clients and repeat service opportunities within the assigned territory.
- Show the Service/Quoted Service team work that needs to be completed either by drafting pictures/plans or by showing them in person on site.
- Coach and support the technicians and plumbers on site on technical and mechanical subjects.
- Delegate project tasks based on junior staff members’ individual strengths, skill sets, and experience levels.
- Attend and participate in job showings, site visits, pre-quote meeting and post-quote meeting as required, bringing any pertinent information to the office for pricing.
- Conduct proactive outreach to past and prospective clients to generate new quote requests and service leads.
- Preparing and reviewing all quotes and materials for service jobs for accuracy.
- Participate in the presentation of estimates/quotes to senior management.
- Prepare and present proposals to prospective and existing clients to secure new business.
- Negotiate contract terms and pricing with clients to close new business while protecting company margins.
- Develop comprehensive project plans to be shared with clients as well as other employees throughout the company.
- Communicate scope of work to the service team through drawings, plans, or on-site walkthroughs.
- Establish and update records of all correspondence related to service activity.
- Apply technical experience to interpret documentation, specifications, and design drawings.
- Assist in the development of estimating plans to establish estimate/proposal strategies.
- Order and pre-order and organize material, equipment, and subcontractors for upcoming jobs in an efficient manner.
- Planning and overseeing quoted service jobs to ensure they are completed in a timely manner and within budget.
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking functions to build brand awareness and generate new business leads.
- Attend project meetings, conferences, corporate events, and training as required.
- Coordinate larger-scale projects.
- Preparation of monthly progress billing and prepare monthly progress updates with upper management.
- Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects.
- Support all other departments with service project-related issues.
What You’ll Bring:
- Valid Journeyman Plumber's License strongly preferred; equivalent plumbing/mechanical construction experience will be considered.
- 5+ years of experience in commercial/industrial plumbing.
- 2+ years as a Project Manager in the plumbing industry is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of plumbing terminology and provincial building codes.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve plumbing issues.
- Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills.
- Solid organizational skills with keen attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Outlook, Excel, Word, Loop).
- Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.
