We are currently seeking a Designer to join our Land Development Division to work out of our Kitchener office.

Responsibilities
- Review and evaluate background project information using engineering principles and critical thinking to develop initial solutions, identify risks and constraints, and bring forward recommendations to the project team.
- Perform engineering design and analysis including storm and sanitary design, water distribution system design, stormwater management facility modelling and design, road design, and noise assessments.
- Coordinate with CAD staff to clearly communicate design intent and support the preparation of engineering drawings.
- Prepare design calculations, technical reports, and support documentation in accordance with applicable regulations, guidelines, and engineering standards.
- Work collaboratively with Project Managers, Design Engineers, clients, agencies, and consultants, communicating progress, risks, and schedule impacts proactively to support successful project delivery.
- Participate in project team meetings and coordinate with team members to support efficient project delivery.
- Seek and apply technical feedback to continuously improve the quality, efficiency, and accuracy of work.
- Assist with water resources monitoring activities, including the installation of monitoring equipment, field sampling, data collection (e.g., TSS sampling, temperature and flow monitoring), and preparation of technical reports.
- Other related duties, as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
- 0-3 years’ experience (co-op experience is an asset).
- Knowledge of engineering principles, applicable government technical standards and legislative regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop and evaluate design alternatives.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently, and make effective use of available resources before seeking assistance, while recognizing when guidance is required.
- Strong organization and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced consulting environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear updates, identify issues early, and collaborate effectively with project teams.
- Receptive to coaching and feedback, with a demonstrated commitment to continuous learning, professional development, and taking ownership of personal growth.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to apply appropriate levels of effort and review based on project stage and complexity.
- Familiarity with engineering design and analysis software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley software, Visual OTTHYMO, PCSWMM or similar software is an asset.
- Willingness and ability to perform outdoor field work in varying weather and site conditions, including wetlands, watercourses, and forested areas. Field activities may include carrying field equipment, installing and removing monitoring devices, collecting samples, and accessing maintenance holes and stormwater infrastructure.
- Valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle is required.
