We’re seeking a motivated Research Assistant to work collaboratively on a research project that will evaluate Humber’s Elderly Assess and Restore Team (HEART) program. This is a mobile healthcare team that sees patients, 65 years of age and older, who have been admitted to the hospital. HEART assesses a patient’s risk of losing their strength, functional mobility, and independence, and provides them with treatment and support. The team’s goal is to help rebuild their strength, increase their independence, and build their confidence to return home.
The Research Assistant (RA) will manage all parts of the research project from initiation to closure. The research involves collecting and analysing data from questionnaires and electronic medical records, as well as conducting interviews with patients and families. The RA will be an integral member of the research team and will be a strong contributor to the dissemination and knowledge translation activities.
This position is a full-time, 18-month temporary assignment.

Hiring Salary Rage: $33.55 - $37.75 per hour
Availability: Monday – Friday (subject to change); some weekend work may be required.

Engagement with the lead investigators, research team, and clinical providers throughout the research process.
Assist project team with data collection from primary sources (e.g. patients & families) and secondary sources (e.g. Electronic Medical Record).
Assisting with project and protocol design.
Assisting with the collection, management, and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data.
Assisting with database creation & maintenance.
Under the direction of Principal investigator, assist with preparation of written materials: focus group/interview guides, research ethics board applications, consent forms, manuscripts, research reports, poster and presentation submissions.
Support data analysis and summarize data for various audiences.
Assist with qualitative research, including: obtaining informed consent, preparing interview questions, scheduling, conducting interviews, reviewing data, coding and analysing qualitative data.
Participate in and conduct literature reviews.
Monitor project budgets.
Coordinate team meetings by booking rooms, organizing materials, taking minutes and following up on action items.
Graduate degree in a health-related discipline
Experience in quantitative research, including conducting basic data analyses using statistical software (e.g. SPSS, SAS, R)
Experience in qualitative research – data coding & analysis using common software such as NVivo
Experience with program evaluation and data management are assets
Experience using research databases and reference management software (e.g. PubMed, Endnote, RefWorks) is considered an asse
Detail oriented, accurate, dependable and flexible individual, able to work independently and capable of multi-tasking.
A minimum of (3) three years of experience in developing and implementing research studies, preferably in a healthcare setting
Knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Exceptional analytical and information-seeking skills that contribute to effective project completion and high-quality work
Self-directed, confident, and highly motivated with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent attendance and discipline free record required
