Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Agricultural Equipment Operator to join the Thomas Solutions team. This is a hands-on, outdoor position supporting our agricultural land application operations throughout Southern Ontario.
The successful candidate will operate and assist with a variety of agricultural equipment used in the application of biosolids and other approved organic materials to farmland. This role is well suited to someone who is mechanically inclined, comfortable operating large agricultural equipment, and able to work independently as part of a field-based team.
Duties
- Safely operate agricultural tractors and specialized land application equipment
- Operate and assist with drag hose application systems, pumps, hoses, and related equipment
- Perform field application of biosolids and other approved organic materials in accordance with established procedures
- Set up, move, connect, and dismantle hoses, pumps, and application equipment between fields and application areas
- Perform daily equipment inspections and identify mechanical or operational concerns before and during use
- Complete routine maintenance, greasing, cleaning, and minor repairs on tractors and agricultural equipment
- Monitor equipment and application systems to ensure safe and efficient operation
- Assist with loading, unloading, mobilization, and transportation of equipment between job sites
- Maintain clean and organized equipment and work areas
- Follow site-specific requirements, environmental procedures, and company health and safety policies
- Work closely with supervisors, drivers, and other equipment operators to coordinate daily field operations
- Accurately complete required daily paperwork and equipment inspection documentation
- Perform additional agricultural and field-related duties as required
Experience & Qualifications
- Previous experience operating agricultural tractors, farm machinery, or comparable heavy equipment is strongly preferred
- Experience with manure application, drag hose systems, liquid application equipment, pumps, or similar agricultural operations is considered a strong asset
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to identify and troubleshoot basic equipment issues
- Comfortable working around pumps, hoses, hydraulic systems, PTO-driven equipment, and agricultural machinery
- Ability to safely perform physically demanding work, including lifting, pulling hoses, climbing on equipment, and working on uneven terrain
- Valid Ontario G Class driver's license with a clean driving record is required
- AZ or DZ driver's license is considered an asset
- Valid Nutrient Application Technician License is considered an asset
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team
- Strong attention to safety and awareness when working around large equipment
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather and field conditions
- Flexibility to work extended hours, evenings, weekends, or seasonal schedules when required by agricultural operations
- Agricultural, farming, heavy equipment, or environmental services experience is considered an asset
