The Opportunity:
Our Parks & Recreation Team has various General Programs Positions available within our facilities:

Learn To Skate Instructors
Public Skate Guards
Snoezelen Facilitator
General Program Instructors
Drop-in Program Attendant
Working with our General Programs staff, these staff members provide quality customer service to program participants through instruction, programming and/or facility support.

Our Learn To Skate Instructors:
Prepare and implement program content based on program objectives outlined by the Town
Prepare course facilities, teaching material and equipment. Prepare program outlines, lesson plans and material for participants as required
Provide program instruction/leadership at the appropriate skill level of participants. Start and end program on time.
Perform administrative tasks (i.e. attendance, preparation, Injury and Incident Reports etc.)
Attend team meetings and training sessions
Ensure confidentiality of all information pertaining to staff, clients and facility operations
Assist in providing a clean, healthy , safe environment for the program and ensure equipment is stored as required
Maintain composure in escalated situations as they arise. Immediately report incidents to the Recreation Coordinator or designate
Candidates for these positions will have the following training and skills:

Current Standard First Aid with CPR- C
2 years' experience in hockey, figure skating, power skating etc. or a demonstrated ability to skate at an advanced level
Excellent customer service skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to maintain confidentiality of all information pertaining to staff, clients and facility operations

Our Public Skate Guards:
Supervise program participants and ensure their safety
Perform administrative tasks (i.e. attendance, preparation, Injury and Incident Reports etc.)
Attend team meetings and training sessions
Ensure confidentiality of all information pertaining to staff, clients and facility operations
Assist in providing a clean, healthy , safe environment for the program and ensure equipment is stored as required
Maintain composure in escalated situations as they arise. Immediately report incidents to the Recreation Coordinator or designate
Candidates for these positions will have the following training and skills:

Current Standard First Aid with CPR- C

Our Snoezelen Facilitators:
Supervise program participants and operate Snoelezen equipment their use
Perform administrative tasks (i.e. attendance, preparation, Injury and Incident Reports etc.)
Attend team meetings and training sessions
Ensure confidentiality of all information pertaining to staff, clients and facility operations
Assist in providing a clean, healthy , safe environment for the program and ensure equipment is stored as required
Maintain composure in escalated situations as they arise. Immediately report incidents to the Recreation Coordinator or designate
Candidates for these positions will have the following training and skills:

Current Standard First Aid with CPR- C
Demonstrated understanding of the Snoezelen philosophy. Experience working with individuals with special needs would be an asset.
Excellent customer service skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to maintain confidentiality of all information pertaining to staff, clients and facility operations

Our General Program Instructors:

Work in accordance to Cash Handling procedures and protocol as it relates to the position
Perform administrative tasks (i.e. attendance, preparation, Injury and Incident Reports etc.)
Attend team meetings and training sessions
Ensure confidentiality of all information pertaining to staff, clients and facility operations
Assist in providing a clean, healthy , safe environment for the program and ensure equipment is stored as required
Maintain composure in escalated situations as they arise. Immediately report incidents to the Recreation Coordinator or designate
Candidates for these positions will have the following training and skills:

Current Standard First Aid with CPR- C
Minimum 1 year experience in program area
Demonstrated ability to facilitate training/instruction. Experience working with children, youth, adults and adults 60+ would be an asset
Excellent customer service skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Our Drop-In Program Attendants:
Monitor drop-in participants and ensure their safety
Open and close facility (not all locations)
Perform administrative tasks (i.e. attendance, preparation, Injury and Incident Reports etc.)
Attend team meetings and training sessions
Ensure confidentiality of all information pertaining to staff, clients and facility operations
Assist in providing a clean, healthy , safe environment for the program and ensure equipment is stored as required
Maintain composure in escalated situations as they arise. Immediately report incidents to the Recreation Coordinator or designate
Candidates for these positions will have the following training and skills:

Excellent customer service skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Note: All Staff working with the Parks & Recreation Department are required to satisfactorily pass a vulnerable sector check and complete Standard First Aid with CPR-C (if not already certified).
