Lab Technician
The Lab Technician will support the Chopline by testing samples, preparing buttons, running spectrometer analysis, completing float analysis, and helping direct material based on the results.
Main Responsibilities
- Prepare samples buttons for spectrometer testing.
- Run spectrometer testing and use the results to classify, label, and direct material.
- Complete float analysis and daily waste testing, and provide daily waste report results.
- Maintain testing records and report any quality concerns or unusual results.
- Own the spectrometer, including routine maintenance, keeping it clean, scheduling service when needed, and making sure required consumables are available.
- Keep the lab area clean, organized, and safe.
- Follow all safety and testing procedures.
Requirements
- Experience in a lab, quality control, metals, recycling, or manufacturing environment preferred.
- Comfortable using lab and testing equipment.
- Basic understanding of metals, material grading, or quality control preferred.
- Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy and consistency.
- Able to follow testing procedures exactly.
- Comfortable maintaining equipment and managing required consumables.
- Comfortable with Excel and basic reporting.
- Able to identify abnormal results and escalate concerns.
- Able to work independently and communicate results clearly.
Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
