The Practice Manager, Dental at MAP is a key leadership position with accountability for the overall operational performance, team effectiveness, and patient experience of an assigned dental practice.
Serving as the primary operational leader within the clinic, the Practice Manager provides direction and oversight across people, processes, patient flow, financial performance, compliance, and day-to-day practice operations. This role requires someone who can balance the immediate needs of a busy clinical environment with the broader responsibility of building a high-performing, efficient, and engaged practice.
Working closely with dentists, clinical teams, and MAP's senior leadership team, the Practice Manager translates organizational priorities into effective clinic-level execution. They are expected to understand the performance of their practice, identify opportunities and risks, make sound operational decisions, and lead their team toward established clinical, operational, and financial goals.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and operational oversight for the assigned dental practice.
- Ensure administrative and clinical workflows support timely, coordinated, patient-centred care.
- Partner with dentists, hygienists, assistants, and administrative teams to identify and resolve barriers affecting patient care or clinic efficiency.
- Support effective treatment coordination and communication throughout the patient journey.
- Establish and maintain effective clinic processes, workflows, policies, and standards.
- Ensure the physical environment, equipment, technology, and resources support safe and efficient clinic operations.
- Act as the primary operational point of contact for clinic-level issues and escalation.
- Lead, coach, and develop clinical and administrative team members to support a high-performing and accountable workplace.
- Participate in recruitment, onboarding, training, performance reviews, employee development, and workforce planning.
- Foster a collaborative, respectful, and solutions-focused workplace culture.
- Understand and actively manage the key performance indicators that drive practice success.
- Oversee accounts receivable processes, billing practices, inventory, purchasing, and supply management.
- Ensure clinic resources and staffing are appropriately aligned with operational requirements.
- Participate in performance reviews and operational planning with MAP leadership.
- Ensure clinic operations comply with applicable regulatory requirements, professional standards, privacy legislation, infection prevention and control requirements and organizational policies.
- Promote a culture in which patient safety, privacy, professionalism, and accountability remain central to clinic operations.
- Serve as the key connection between the clinic and MAP's broader leadership team.

- Strong understanding of dental practice operations, clinical workflows, terminology, treatment processes, and the patient journey.

- Ability to coach, mentor, motivate, and develop team members while maintaining appropriate accountability.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to navigate difficult conversations, resolve issues, and communicate effectively across clinical and corporate teams.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining focus on the activities that have the greatest impact on practice performance.

Education and Experience Requirements
- Current or previous experience as a Registered Dental Hygienist, Certified Dental Assistant Level II, or other dental professional with significant knowledge of dental practice operations.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience within the dental industry.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including responsibility for team supervision, coaching, performance management, or human resources functions.
- Strong understanding of dental scheduling, treatment workflows, billing, patient records, and practice management systems.
- Proficiency with dental practice management software and electronic patient records.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple operational priorities and work effectively with both clinical and business leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience managing or leading operations within a dental practice.
- Degree, diploma, certificate, or additional education in business administration, healthcare management, leadership, or a related field.
- Experience with ClearDent or comparable dental practice management software.
- Experience working within a multi-practice or healthcare management organization.
- Experience with practice performance metrics, budgeting, financial reporting, or operational planning is considered an asset.
Work Environment
This is a full-time leadership position primarily based within an assigned dental practice.
The Practice Manager maintains a strong presence within their clinic while also working collaboratively with MAP's regional and senior leadership teams. The role includes participation in operational planning, leadership meetings, performance management, and broader initiatives supporting the continued development of MAP's Dental Division.
