Full-time temporary position until March 1, 2021
The hours of work are typically 0600 to 1415 hrs, Monday through Friday.
This is your chance to be a part of the most-listened-to radio program in the national capital. The Reporter/Editor (a.k.a. Writer/Broadcaster) on Ottawa Morning connects the program to all corners of the city through a combination of tape and live hits. If you’re the right person for the job you bring a wealth of story ideas to the table. You know what’s valuable to Ottawa listeners in the morning. You are a team player who is always aiming to tell surprising stories in innovative ways. You have a great ear for radio, but you also deliver compelling writing and photos for digital platforms including social media. Your on-air personality is a complement to the team, providing a chance for sophisticated talk and some laughs, too.
Demonstrable experience (2 years minimum) working in radio, gathering and presenting tape
Excellent skills in writing for broadcast
Strong news judgement and ability to work under deadline pressure
An aptitude for working with technical equipment and proven skills troubleshooting issues in the field
A track record of working with a high performing team
Flexibility with hours of work (including evenings and weekends) and willingness to learn new tasks.
Experience working with social media tools
Understanding of the differences and strategies associated with various social media platforms
A driver’s license (mandatory)
A streak of independence
A sense of humour
Excellent troubleshooting skills
University Degree or equivalent and 3 years of directly related experience that includes proven ability in the field and knowledge of the broadcast industry.
The ability to speak French is considered a strong asset.
