About the role:
Are you a strong leader with experience in production operations? IPCO is seeking a Plant Shift Supervisor to lead production teams in a safe, efficient, and collaborative environment. In this role, you will be the on-shift management lead overseeing production flow, ensuring safety and quality standards are met, and driving employee engagement and continuous improvement.
What you’ll do:
- Lead and supervise a production team to achieve daily and weekly requirements, ensuring productivity, quality, and safety standards are met.
- Set goals, organize workflow, delegate tasks, and provide coaching, feedback, and performance management.
- Ensure training is current and documented; oversee cross-training to maintain adequate coverage and skill levels.
- Maintain accurate timekeeping, personnel records, SOPs, and production reports (running totals, shift recaps, etc.).
- Promote a safe work environment by enforcing IPCO policies and regulatory compliance, conducting safety audits, and leading investigations using root cause analysis.
- Oversee quality checks and ensure compliance with quality plans, contamination prevention protocols, and ISO 9001 standards.
- Act as the Emergency Response Leader on shift, responsible for managing safety incidents and ensuring plant security.
Who you’ll work with:
You will be responsible in overseeing the workflow and safe supervision upwards to 38 in-scope team members. You will report directly to the Assistant Production Manager on a team that strives for a culture of support, customer focus, and continuous improvement.

Who you are:
- Have a minimum grade 12 education.
- Have a 5+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered)
- Hold a Lean/Operational Excellence certificate (A minimum of one of the following: Yellow belt, Green belt, 5S management, root cause analysis) from a recognized source accrediting body. Or a minimum of 5 years of experience utilizing those methodologies. Certificate in supervision or related field an asset.
- Have experience with chemicals, inventory management systems, and workforce management software.
- Possess (or are willing to obtain) certification/training in: TDG, WHMIS, and First Aid Level II. Knowledge of Manitoba Workplace Safety & Health Act and ISO 9001 is an asset.
Additional Details:
· This position is classified as Career Level – Management position within the Front-Line Leadership career stream.
· The Plant Shift Supervisor must be able and willing to work all three shifts:
o Day shift (7am – 3:30pm – primary shift year-round)
o Evening shift (3pm – 11:30pm)
o Night shift (11pm – 7:30am)
· Weekend shifts may also be required.
· Off shifts (Night, Evening, Weekend) might be temporarily halted during our summer slow period, typically between July – September. Those working off shifts would consolidate into the active shift(s).
