Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Log Loader Operator to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating heavy machinery to load, unload, and transport logs efficiently and safely. Your expertise will ensure smooth logistical operations within our forestry or construction projects, contributing to the timely completion of tasks while maintaining a safe work environment. Duties
- Operate log loaders and other heavy equipment with precision to load and unload timber and construction materials
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on machinery to ensure optimal performance and safety standards are met
- Assist with site preparation, including landscape maintenance and clearing debris using hand tools and power tools
- Coordinate with ground personnel to ensure safe lifting, stacking, and transportation of logs or materials
- Utilize GIS (Geographic Information Systems) technology for mapping and site planning tasks when applicable
- Follow safety protocols diligently during all operations to prevent accidents and injuries
- Maintain detailed logs of equipment usage, maintenance activities, and operational reports
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating heavy equipment such as log loaders, cranes, or similar machinery in construction or forestry settings
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot basic equipment issues
- Construction experience is highly desirable, especially in outdoor or land development projects
- Familiarity with landscape maintenance practices and the use of hand tools and power tools
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred for transporting equipment or materials between sites
- Basic understanding of GIS technology for mapping or land management tasks is a plus
- Ability to perform routine maintenance on machinery and perform minor repairs as needed
- Excellent communication skills and a commitment to safety standards at all times
