Summary:
Reporting to the Supervisor of the Government Counselling Services, you will be providing counselling to assigned Probation and Parole cases referred to Morneau Shepell by the Ministry of the Solicitor General, in a probation and parole office.

Responsibilities:
Provide medium-term counselling and referrals to assigned cases;
Provide individual and group counselling (as applicable);
Communicate on clients' behalf to Probation and Parole Officers, verbally and in writing, as per contractual requirements;
Communicate on clients' behalf, with express consent, with external professionals;
Follow the Government Counselling Services client services model and administrative requirements;
Meet the company's contractual obligations to the Ministry of the Solicitor General, Ontario.
Succeeding as a Counsellor - Government Services will require the following core qualifications and skills:

Master's degree in Counselling, Psychology or Social Work;
Professional College membership and valid professional liability insurance;
Minimum of two (2) years post-graduate counselling experience delivering cognitive behavioral therapy;
Experience and confidence to work with individuals who have complex issues and challenges including mental health, addictions, homelessness, social exclusion, and involvement with the justice system and/or social service field;
Ability to work with various types of clients presenting a wide variety of issues and good knowledge of local community resources;
Knowledge of physical/sexual abuse responsibility and legislation is an asset;
Experience with mandated clients is an asset;
Strong clinical assessment skills with specificity to positive community adaptation and integration;
Ability to set short term objectives and work from a strength-based model;
Ability to write report in a clear and concise manner and to submit them in a strict timeline;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with excellent time-management and organizational skills;
Adherence to professional and ministry boundaries for client intervention and care;
Access to laptop and printer is required.
