Intermediate Financial Specialist - Contract - 19175
About the Opportunity
Our public sector client is seeking an experienced Intermediate Financial Specialist to support a high-profile financial management function within a complex federal government environment. This long term engagement offers the opportunity to contribute to budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, expenditure management, and cost recovery activities that support critical operational and engineering programs.
The successful consultant will work closely with managers and stakeholders to ensure sound financial stewardship, accurate reporting, and compliance with Government of Canada financial policies and procedures.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Monitor budgets, expenditures, commitments, and forecasts
Support Salary Wage Envelope (SWE) management and cost recovery activities
Prepare financial reports, analyses, reconciliations, and briefing materials
Conduct variance analysis and identify financial risks and trends
Liaise with internal clients regarding funding requirements and financial planning activities
Support year-end financial exercises and resource planning initiatives
Maintain accurate financial documentation and records
Provide advice and recommendations on financial management practices and controls
Ensure compliance with applicable financial policies, directives, and procedures
Assist with ad hoc financial projects and reporting requirements as assigned
About You
The successful candidate will have the following:
Post secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field
Experience supporting financial management, budgeting, forecasting, and expenditure tracking activities
Experience preparing financial reports, analyses, and management briefings
Experience working with ERP systems such as DRMIS, SAP, or similar financial management platforms
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including reporting and data analysis
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem solving abilities
Experience working within a federal government environment would be considered a strong asset
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
English language proficiency
Active Secret Security Clearance is mandatory

Duration: Four-year contract with a potential one year extension option
Location: National Capital Region
