Who we are looking for:
We are seeking a compassionate Permanent Full-time Health Care Aide who is registered with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (https://clha.com) to join our team. As a Health Care Aide, you will play a crucial role in providing essential care and support to individuals in need. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those requiring assistance with daily living activities.
Some Key Duties:
- Provide personalized assistance with daily living activities
- Assist clients with personal care tasks such as bathing, grooming, and dressing
- Administer medications as prescribed by healthcare professionals
- Prepare and serve nutritious meals according to dietary requirements
- Perform light housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and safe environment
- Support clients in maintaining their independence and dignity
- Communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare team members
Qualifications and Skills:
- Health Care Aide Certificate is mandatory.
- Registration with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta is mandatory.
- A negative Vulnerable Sector/Criminal Record Check prior to starting work is mandatory.
- A valid Class 5 Driver's License and a reliable vehicle for your personal travel is mandatory.
- Knowledge of medication administration practices.
- Familiarity with home care, assisted living or nursing home environments.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with Elders/residents.
- Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation or Basic Life Support.
- Hepatitis B, tetanus vaccinations and TB testing required.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting.
- Previous experience in patient care or caregiving is preferred.
- Speaking and understanding Cree would be an asset.
WDHA/KSF prefers the most qualified person for hire on the basis of credentials, experience, availability and other skills; and preference will be given to existing residents of Wabasca, Sandy Lake or Calling Lake, Alberta.
