The Finance team at this esteemed organization holds a key role in maintaining an efficient and accurate recording, reporting, and reconciliation of various data such as budgeting, financial reports, payroll, and audit.
The Controller, who is an essential member of our Finance Department, will report to the Director of Finance and take proactive responsibility for the day-to-day operations. This role demands comprehensive surveillance of accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, payroll, and team management.
Responsibilities:
- Uphold, review, and manage financial policies, systems, and reports.
- Oversee and ensure the validity of Account Receivable and Account Payable transactions, adeptly addressing any system issues.
- Manage daily and monthly functions such as AR, AP, bank reconciliations, and cash management.
- Oversee the coding of Purchase Orders and Invoices.
- Uphold deadlines for monthly, quarterly, and yearly operational tasks.
- Resourcefully manage cash-flow transactions and advice on the movement of assets between investments.
- Collaboratively work with the Senior Financial Reporting/Analyst on preparing financial and operational reports, data interpretation, summarizing trends and conducting variance analysis.
- Review financial reports for completeness and error checking.
- Ensure full compliance with federal, provincial, and municipal tax reporting requirements.
- Manage, recruit and develop the finance team members.
- Maintain effective working relationships across the teams and departments.
- Act as a bridge between the organization and external agencies as needed.
- Assist in briefing notes and strategic decisions.
In order to succeed in this role, you will need to bring the following requirements to the table:
- Compliance with financial policies and procedures, ensuring timely and accurate capture of transactions and reporting.
- Effectively manage cash and maximize the organization's financial resources.
- Participate in preparing and coordinating budgets with manager's input.
- Successfully maintain nominal audit findings level.
- Possess or working towards obtaining a CPA professional accounting designation.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting/finance.
- Proven experience in payroll administration.
- Proficiency in Office 365 applications and advanced skills in Excel.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to supervise staff and delegate tasks.
- Exceptional time management, decision-making, problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
