Position Vacancy: Fracture Clinic
Position: Registered Practical Nurse – Unifor Service
Work Type: Part Time
20 Hours per week. Shifts 8:00am-4:00pm
Location: WRHN @ Midtown (formerly Grand River Hospital, KW Campus)
Position Summary:
The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) works in Fracture Clinic and provides direct care for patients of various ages who have undergone a variety of surgical procedures and interventions. The RPN will function within the Job Description of a Registered Practical Nurse and the College of Nurses Standards of Nursing Practice for Registered Practical Nurses.
Position Requirements:
- Current Registration Certificate of Competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario ·
- At least 1 year of experience assisting with minor surgical procedures in orthopedic, general and plastic surgery ·
- At least 1 year of experience setting up and maintaining sterile fields, wound care, dressing changes and suture/staple removal ·
- Preference will be given to a Registered Practical Nurse who has previous experience with minor surgical procedures. ·
- Ability to function independently in clinical areas with rapid pace and high turnover ·
- Collaboration and communication skills with patients and health professionals ·
- Ability to adapt to various clinical settings and provide appropriate nursing care to patients whose acuity and degree of illness vary ·
- Effectively communicates patient education for follow up and wound care. ·
- Flexibility, reliability and dependability ·
- Good attendance record
