Silver Hills, manufacturer and marketer of Silver Hills Sprouted Bakery, Little Northern Bakehouse, and One Degree Organic Foods is looking for an experienced Buyer to join the team.

Who are we looking for...

We are looking for a Buyer to join our Procurement team! Our Buyer will be sourcing and purchasing ingredients for our delicious, plant-powerful products.

In this role, you will get a chance to bring new ideas and implement them by sharing your best practices. The main challenge is being patient, professional and operate under pressure with last minute changes due to the lack of processes and systems in place. However, this provides the opportunity to work with an amazing team of people who are collaborative, understanding and have a direct impact on the product through purchasing!

Knowledge & Skills

You have experience with international freight and lean manufacturing practices
You have superb project management capacity
You have intermediate Excel skills (i.e. VLOOKUP, Pivot tables, etc.)
You have expert computer skills (Great Plains, Dynamics, Outlook, etc.)

You have a Degree/Diploma in Business Administration, Finance, Supply Chain or a related major
You have 3-5 years of sourcing and buying experience

You have experience purchasing food ingredients (in organic/natural bakery sector)
You have some co-packing experience
Things you will do…

Maintain appropriate inventory levels and place orders for restock as needed to keep the business thriving
Manage material requirements and ensure logistical requirements in transportation of materials are met
Source food ingredients ensuring items purchased follow established policies and procedures
Negotiate and track contracts with brokers or suppliers providing analytical data and reports to support
Generate savings on raw materials and logistics using commodity knowledge to support business objectives
Ensure the quality of materials, competitive pricing, and sufficient supply at all times

May on occasion work at various times including weekends, as the job requires
