The Opportunity
General Bank of Canada is looking for a permanent, fulltime Senior Infrastructure Specialist to join the organization as a key contributor with the Bank’s Data & Technology Innovation team. Reporting to the Director of IT and Cloud Engineering, the Senior Infrastructure Specialist will play a key role in advancing the company’s cloud-first strategy. This position involves designing, implementing, and managing the technology infrastructure that supports GBC's business operations. They will maintain and resolve IT issues from the support ticketing system and event monitoring while planning for future needs. Additionally, this role will be required to evaluate existing systems to better align with business operations and enhance efficiency, supporting GBC’s ongoing transformation.
Responsibilities
- Design, Architecture and Implementation: Design and implement robust IT infrastructure (Cloud and On Prem) solutions that support the company’s business operations. This includes servers, networks, databases, and other related technologies.
- Infrastructure Management: Monitor and manage the day-to-day operations of the IT infrastructure. Ensure the security, reliability, and performance of all systems.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other Data and Technology Innovation (DTI) teams, including software development and support, Helpdesk, Data Management and Analytics Team to ensure seamless integration and operations of systems and applications. Mentor others on infrastructure support and best practices
- Troubleshooting: Proactively identify and resolve infrastructure-related issues. This includes troubleshooting hardware, software, and network problems. Required to be in an on-call rotation.
- Documentation: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for IT infrastructure, including system configurations, topologies, and procedures.
- Technology Trends: Stay current with the latest technologies and industry trends to ensure the company’s infrastructure remains competitive.
What You Bring to the Table
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field is required.
- 7+ years of IT infrastructure management experience is required.
- Proven experience with cloud platforms (Azure, Google Cloud), including on premise to cloud server migration is required.
- Strong knowledge of server hardware, operating systems (Linux, Windows), networking, and high availability clusters is required.
- Proficiency in scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell) for automating provisioning, deployment, and scaling.
- Solid IT security expertise and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, MCSE, Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator/Solutions Architect is preferred.
Experience in the Financial sector and with tools like GIT, Jira, Agile SDLC, and CI/CD is preferred.

The salary range for this position is $102,326.00 to $153,489.00
