In addition to being an industry leader in the provision of learning materials, YUB fosters campus engagement by offering a world-class collection of ethically sourced campus branded products, general interest books and other items.YUB also provides sourcing expertise, working with departments on campus to deliver promotional products that meet the needs for different initiatives and events. With tremendous sourcing capabilities, an on-campus location, and existing relationships, YUB is uniquely positioned to build this business, generating additional revenue while providing value to the University and ensuring products meet brand, quality, and sourcing standards.The Custom Sales Specialist role focuses on business development and sourcing innovation to uniquely deliver on the above mandate. The role requires significant experience developing a custom promotional products business, with strong relationship ability to work across the University to on deliver on this growing program. The role manages the process from end to end, including prospecting, presenting, providing a quote, receiving the order, ordering product, and ensuring the client receives quality product(s) within expected timelines. The role owns the overall strategy for developing the Custom Order business
Education:
Undergraduate University or equivalent combination of education & experience.
Experience:
5 years' experience with business development in the custom product sales industry
3 years' experience with custom branded products either in sales, purchasing or production.
Experience working in a large complex organisation, analyzing and expanding business operations towards sustained growth.
Skills:
Knowledge
- Understanding of purchasing guidelines in the post-secondary education sector.
- Knowledge of promotional products industry, including market segments, product types, and decoration techniques.
- Knowledge of the current campus retail environment

- Compensation:
York implemented a revised CPM Compensation Framework in 2019. The Framework is a salary grid consisting of 6 or 8 steps (depending on job grade) which is reviewed annually with possible adjustments, and a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award. Employees will receive the grid adjustment and depending on performance, eligible permanent employees may move to the next step of the grid and may receive a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award.Visit the CPM Compensation page on the HR Website to find out more about York's CPM Compensation Program.
