Position Overview
The Motorization Specialist is responsible for assembling, programming, and testing motorized window covering systems. This role ensures all motorized blinds and shades are built accurately, operate smoothly, and meet company quality standards before shipment.
This position requires strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and basic technical troubleshooting skills.
Key Responsibilities: Assembly & Production
- Assemble motorized roller shades, dual shades, and specialty systems
- Install motors, brackets, wiring, and control components
- Ensure proper alignment, tension, and fabric tracking
Programming & Configuration
- Program motors, remotes, and control systems (e.g., limits, channels, grouping)
- Pair devices (remotes, hubs, wall switches) with shades
- Configure basic automation settings where required
Testing & Quality Control
- Test all motorized units for:
- Smooth operation (up/down cycles)
- Noise levels
- Limit accuracy and stopping points
- Identify and troubleshoot issues (motor faults, pairing failures, misalignment)
- Work closely with Quality Control to ensure defect-free output
Order Accuracy
- Verify order specifications:
- Motor type (battery vs. hardwired)
- Control type (remote, smart hub, etc.)
- Shade dimensions and configuration
- Ensure correct components are used for each order
Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement
- Diagnose and resolve motorization issues during production
- Provide feedback on recurring defects or inefficiencies
- Assist in improving motorization workflows and SOPs
General Production Support
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation
- Assist with other production tasks as needed
- Follow all safety and operational procedures
Qualifications
- Experience in manufacturing, assembly, or production (preferred)
- Mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving ability
- Basic understanding of electrical components (low voltage) is an asset
- Experience with motorized window coverings or similar products (strong asset)
- Comfortable using tools and measuring equipment
- Ability to follow technical instructions and specifications
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $19.00-$21.00 per hour
