INDIGENOUS HEALING LODGES

Native Counselling Services of Alberta’s mission is to promote the resilience of the indigenous individual and family, through programs and services that are grounded in reclaiming our interconnectedness, reconciliation of relationships and self-determination.
Native Counselling Services of Alberta (NCSA) is committed to providing culturally relevant and holistic services to individual residents within our healing lodges. We house both male and female residents in two separate locations within the city of Edmonton. Our Section 81 healing lodges are designed to facilitate the healing, reintegration and rehabilitation of Indigenous people in a culturally safe and therapeutic environment. We are looking for individuals to work supporting of individuals that are working toward positive holistic goals.
Specific responsibilities will include the following:

To monitor and observe the static and dynamics security functions to ensure the care and well being of residents and community remain safe while providing ongoing supports as required.

Responsible for supporting individuals in their self growth in a safe, healthy environment.

To assist individuals who are working on their realistic case plans to address barriers, advocate for residents when necessary.
Our ideal candidate would have the following qualifications:

In-depth experience and working knowledge of Indigenous communities, cultures, healing and language.

Demonstrated understanding of historic trauma and the impact of colonization on Indigenous people.

Excellent time management, ability to prioritize work, should be self motivated and able to take initiatives to ensure safety of all.

Must be dependable, dress appropriately for the position.

Good working knowledge of computers and information technology.

Ability to work as a team with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must maintain confidentiality, maintain professional boundaries, and open to learning.

Strong interpersonal relations, conflict resolution, leadership and time management skills.

Previous experience working with multi-barrier individuals is an asset.

Must provide current criminal record check, child intervention checks upon hire and able to pass Correctional Services Canada screening to maintain employment.
Starting Range: $22.40 - $24.00 hour
