Swenam College is seeking an experienced, reliable, and innovative Senior Full-Stack Web Developer to lead the development and ongoing improvement of our public website, Learning Management System (LMS), and secure student portal.
This role is ideal for someone who understands both modern web development and the operational needs of an educational institution. The successful candidate will help create a seamless digital experience for prospective students, current students, instructors, admissions staff, and administrators.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain a modern, mobile-friendly, high-converting college website.
- Create program pages, lead-generation forms, online application workflows, and integrations with admissions and CRM systems.
- Develop or customize a secure Learning Management System for online, hybrid, and in-person programs.
- Build and maintain a student portal where students can access applications, admission documents, tuition information, schedules, attendance, grades, course materials, announcements, certificates, and support services.
- Develop instructor and administrator dashboards for class management, attendance, grades, student records, communication, and reporting.
- Integrate payment systems, online forms, document upload tools, email notifications, calendar functions, video-learning platforms, and other third-party systems.
- Ensure privacy, data protection, user permissions, backups, cybersecurity, and reliable system performance.
- Improve website search engine optimization, speed, accessibility, and user experience.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and provide ongoing support to the admissions, academic, and administrative teams.
- Prepare technical documentation and train internal staff on how to use the website, LMS, and student portal.
Required Qualifications
- Strong experience in full-stack web development, including front-end and back-end development.
- Experience building, customizing, or managing Learning Management Systems such as Moodle, Canvas, WordPress LMS platforms, or custom LMS systems.
- Experience developing secure user portals, dashboards, registration systems, and online forms.
- Proficiency with technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, PHP, Python, Node.js, Laravel, WordPress, MySQL, APIs, cloud hosting, and database management.
- Experience integrating payment gateways, CRM systems, email automation, student-information systems, or online scheduling tools.
- Strong understanding of website security, user access controls, backups, privacy, and secure document storage.
- Ability to translate operational needs into practical, easy-to-use digital systems.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently while coordinating with admissions, academics, marketing, and management teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with a college, school, university, training institution, or education technology company.
- Experience with student-information systems, online admissions workflows, gradebooks, attendance tracking, and certificate generation.
- Familiarity with Canadian privacy expectations and educational-record management.
- Experience with digital marketing, SEO, analytics, landing pages, and lead-conversion optimization.
Employment Structure
This can begin as a contract-based project role for the initial website, LMS, and portal build, followed by an ongoing part-time or full-time technical support and development position.
The candidate must be able to provide examples of previous websites, portals, LMS platforms, dashboards, or education-related systems they have developed.
Pay: $60,450.72-$141,392.43 per year
